My name is Sofia Narvaez and I am a junior at Skyline. I love creating art and am interested in studying architecture once I graduate from high school. My art is usually very colorful and abstract, usually with meaning behind it. This is my second 3D class at skyline and I am excited to create art that is visually appealing and that draws people in. Some materials I would like to work with are wire, wood, and explore architecture. Welcome to my advanced 3D portfolio!
3D Pen Bootcmap
My goal with this piece was to experiment with the 3D printer pen and learn how to use it to create art. I also wanted to experiment with neon colors and decided to make an alien to go with the colors. I overall like how this piece turned out, although it is small I learned how to use the 3D pen and managed to make something cute and playful.
Color Blocked Mug
This color blocked mug was my first piece using ceramic clay. I wanted a ver clean design with color blocked patterns throughout the mug, which is what I ended up creating. This piece was pretty hard for me since I had never really worked with ceramics before, but it turned out relatively good considering the fact that it was my first ever mug. I really like the color choices and pattern that I created with this piece.
"Mechanical Mountain Dream" - recycled redesign piece
For the recycled redesign project, I decided to take apart this CD player and use the front of it for my piece. I was inspired by the Colorado skyline and wanted to create a sort of sunset within the CD player. The use of juxtaposition between the very mechanical and angular outside and the more natural and fluid inside of the piece is what I love about it, and I liked incorporating lights and wire elements in the foreground to add depth and interest into the piece.
"Water Drops" - industrial design final
This industrial design piece is a house/building that is inspired by ocean and water. The general shape of the building is meant to loosely look like water droplets, and is also reflected in the shape of the windows. The design that is painted over the piece is an abstract representation of ripples in water, and the blue plastic in the windows and door are supposed to be like the plastic in our oceans, because it is a huge issue regarding oceans so I wanted to incorporate that idea into my piece. I really like how the piece came out and had a lot of fun both designing and creating the piece.
